Marine Heritage Festival 2018

The 8th Annual Marine Heritage Festival in Southampton is a little more than a month away on July 27th – 29th.

The celebrations begin on Friday evening, the 27th, at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre with a BBQ, live entertainment and cardboard boat building for the kids.

Then, it’s the big Saturday event that kicks off with the Rotary pancake breakfast at Pioneer Park where community and service groups will also feature displays.

For the young set, there will be face-painting and the children’s Captain Sparrow gold nugget hunt.

One of the most popular activities is the annual cardboard boat race and the Big Canoe Tug-of-War with a Rotary BBQ lunch for hungry appetites.

Throughout the day, there’s live music, the beer tent and then, to top it all off is the Firemen’s Fish Fry in the evening.

Sunday begins with the Children’s bike race at the Big Flag and then it’s the  “War on the Shore” bike races through the streets of Southampton and the Marine Heritage Society BBQ.

The weekend winds down with a Community supper and, Ecumenical church service on the shores of Lake Huron in Pioneer Park.

The entire weekend’s events are FREE admission and everyone is encouraged to take it all in … there’s something for every age!
