New proposed Kincardine hotel development moving forward

A proposal to build a new four storey, 90-room Staybridge Suites hotel is moving forward at the intersection of Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue, in Kincardine. The owner of the property entered into a Site Plan Agreement with the Municipality of Kincardine with site preparation underway and construction set to begin this summer at 1494 Highway 21.

The new hotel will offer a pool, exercise facilities, and kitchen comforts, accommodating both the transient workforce and visitors to the area. The location includes accessibility and environmental features in its design. This includes design features such as:

· Delineated barrier free ramps, transitions, and exterior walkways.
· Accessible signage, parking, and entrances.
· Nine fully accessible suites.
. Screening and landscaping buffers.
· Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations.
· Outdoor living areas.

The overall development includes four phases on the 4.5-hectare property. Phases 1 and 2 focus on the hotel, while Phases 3 and 4 consist of retail and quick serve restaurants.

“We’re excited to see this development moving ahead along Highway 21, as it will offer more sleeping accommodations, future retail, and fast-food restaurant choices for our community,” says Mayor Kenneth Craig.

“The Municipality has negotiated agreements to extend municipal services to the site and we continue to advocate to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to move forward with their intended intersection upgrades at Kincardine Avenue and Highway 21. The plan is that new stoplights and turning lanes will be in place when the hotel opens in late 2024.”

The Staybridge Suites hotel is the second development in the area moving forward with site preparation and construction.
