Bruce County Councillor and Northern Bruce Peninsula Mayor, Milt McIver, was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Coin for his many years of service and leadership in the community and the County.

    (L) MP Bruce-Grey Owen Sound Alex Ruff (Col. ret’d)                                          and Mayor Milt McIver

The award was presented by Bruce-Grey Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff (Col ret’d) at the Bruce County Council meeting on July 3rd (2023).

Mciver is the only Mayor that Northern Bruce Peninsula has ever had. He won a resounding victory in the October 24th election, taking 69% of the vote.

First elected as Reeve of Lindsay Township in 1982, he held that position until amalgamation in 1999, and has been the Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula ever since.

McIver said in the past election that, “Our family still lives on the farm settled by my ancestors in the mid-1800’s. Both my wife, Bonnie Warder and I have deep roots on the Peninsula and it has always been my inspiration to be involved in municipal government. It has been an honour to serve as Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula since Amalgamation in 1999 and this long-term involvement gives me a sound understanding of our area.”
