On August 9, 2024, at 11:25 p.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer arrested a driver while conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Bruce Road 10 in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.
The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.
A 24-year-old male from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
The driver will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and immediate vehicle impoundment for seven days.

On August 11, 2024, at 11:15 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop during a RIDE program on Durham Street Walkerton in the Municipality of Brockton.
The driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician.
A 38-year-old male from South Bruce was charged with:
- Operation while impaired -over 80
- Operation while impaired- alcohol
- Possession of a schedule III substance
