Painting the Ontario Landscape

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is preparing for the art exhibition featuring paintings by the late Jane Champagne, artist and long-time resident of Southampton.

This exquisite art exhibition features acrylic and watercolour paintings, along with sketches and quotes from her book “Painting the Ontario Landscape”.

Especially pleased to share this exhibit are Jane’s daughters Anne and Sophie, who say “Our mother was a force of nature, Gaia personified! A fierce advocate for the soul’s expression, she found her Source in the spirit of the land, and found in the land, her spiritual home. Her voice, in the written word, and her brush, birthing colour into form, were her tools for calling us to preserve the land, and for calling us to express our own soulfulness, the gift of Spirit that we all share. It is in the land that we come to realize Inter-being, the fact that we are all connected, and it is from the land that we learn to love Beauty and celebrate life, simply for being. It is our hope that this exhibit will not only celebrate the life of one remarkable woman, but that it will honour her gift to us, and inspire us to creativity, as well as to action, to preserve and protect Gaia, the Spirit of the Land.”

Enjoy an afternoon of art and light refreshments with the opening reception for “Painting the Ontario Landscape” Saturday, January 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the exhibition runs until April 30, 2019; all are welcome!
