Share some sweetness through the United Way

Our healthcare workers at long term care facilities are such heroes.  The kindness and the caring they show to our loved ones and the most vulnerable is amazing always but during a pandemic of this magnitude, their work and commitment definitely needs to be recognized.

The United Way of Bruce Grey is helping facilitate the sale of the over 3000 boxes of Girl Guide cookies that were received by the Owen Sound packs, just as the shut-down was implemented.

With Covid-19, there is an excess of Girl Guide Cookies that cannot be delivered because of physical distancing. The United Way want to help them sell their cookies and what a great way to thank staff in our long term care homes. “Having purchased some cookies for our office the penny dropped that they would be challenged to sell with social distancing provisions. ‘CookieThanks’ was created in a matter of hours” explains United Way executive director Francesca Dobbyn.

The United Way will accept payment for the boxes of cookies $5.25 per box – $5 for the cookies and 25 cents to cover online credit card fees – and send the full $5 to the Girl Guides.

This appeal is a great way to share some sweetness, thank a health care worker and support local Girl Guides as well.

Boxes will be delivered by Habitat for Humanity.
