The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) was held in Huron County on Wednesday, June 5th. 
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) & Special Olympics Ontario partnered alongside family members, friends, and community supporters from all over Huron County to raise awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics.
The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. This year, Huron OPP Torch Run coordinator, Sgt. Russell Nesbitt, who has been involved with this great partnership for 27 years, reported a fundraising total of $4,385.00.
The Huron County Torch Run started at the Maitland River Community Church located on Josephine Street. The run headed through Wingham, ending at the south end of town. Participants were then transported to Blyth, Clinton, and Goderich where they brought their excitement and joy to each of those communities. After completing the final leg in Goderich participants and supporters met at McGee Motors located on Suncoast Drive East in Goderich for a celebration BBQ.
A BIG “THANKS!” to our donors, Goderich Zehrs Store, First Students Bus Line Goderich, M&M Meats Goderich, and McGee Motors, who provided transportation, food items and support for the participants and volunteers.
A BBQ is planned as a further fundraiser at Corrie’s Food Town in Clinton on Friday, June 28th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Saugeen Shores Torch Run begins June 13th at Port Elgin Tim Horton’s 7:30 a.m.
