Seven members of the Saugeen Track and Field Club (STFC) will be competing in Ottawa over the weekend at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.
Those who have qualified to compete are:
- Emily Branderhorst (High Jump)
- Tony Elliott (Discus, Hammer)
- Hanna Van Stuyvenberg (Discus)
- Billie Martin (Hammer)
- Ryan Jacklin (Hammer
- Jeremy Elliott (Hammer, (Discus U20 Jr. Championships)
Ryan Jacklin recently returned home from competing in Jamaica on U18 Canadian Team where he had a Personal Best performance of 62.42.
The Club continues to promote young athletes and is consistently ranked among the top track and field clubs in Canada.
STFC has produced three Olympians, a Rhodes Scholar and two athletes who have won World Championship medals.
In addition, Club athletes have won 83 National Championship medals and over 1600 Provincial titles.
Founded in 1982 by Earl and Geordie Farrell, the Club continues to turn out athletes who excel in their sports.
Not only does the Club turn out athletes who excel, it also results in well-rounded individuals who then go on to apply what they’ve learned through dedication, determination and goal-setting to other areas of life as they move into the future.
Josh Farrell of SFTC has opened up the 2018 National Track & Field Championships with a Silver medal in Shot Put.
Farrell’s 14.05m throw was a seasonal best only 1cm off his personal best. He is currently ranked at 8th in the world in his category.
