The Municipality of Kincardine is celebrating the completion of significant renovations at the Tiverton Sports Centre, marking a major investment of approximately $1 million into the community facility. Renovations began in April 2025 and continued through the summer, finishing in early October.
Originally constructed in 1989, the arena was due for substantial lifecycle replacements to maintain safety, efficiency, and accessibility. The upgrades ensure the facility remains a welcoming and inclusive space for residents and visitors of all abilities.
The improvements include:
· New Refrigeration Plant – Replacement of major components, including two larger compressors, a new chiller, ammonia gas detector, and all new piping. These upgrades will ensure reliable ice-making at the Tiverton Sports Centre for years to come.
· New Arena Boards and Glass – Installation of a modern boards system featuring the latest player safety technology, replacing the former wooden system. Spectators will also enjoy new heaters in the stands for added comfort.
· Universal Accessible Washroom – Guided by input from the Municipality’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, the renovations include a new universal accessible washroom in the arena lobby. This major addition supports the Municipality’s commitment to inclusivity and compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
“These enhancements represent a long-term investment in Tiverton’s recreation facilities,” said Luke Bedard, Director of Community Services. “We’re excited to welcome the community back to enjoy the rink and to highlight the work that’s been completed.”
