Tune in to rare, real‑time underwater exploration of the waters surrounding Bruce Power

Bruce Power is pleased to participate in Inspired Planet Productions’ livestream Hidden Below Live, which provides a rare, real‑time underwater exploration of the waters surrounding its site on Lake Huron.

By collaborating with independent filmmakers and scientists on Hidden Below, Bruce Power is demonstrating its commitment to openness, public education, and environmental transparency in supporting informed discussion about how industry and nature can responsibly coexist.

This live broadcast offers the public an opportunity to see a part of the lake that has been scientifically studied for decades but is rarely visible, highlighting a unique near‑shore environment in which fish and other aquatic life gather. Like many industries that use lake water for cooling, Bruce Power returns water to Lake Huron at a slightly higher temperature, creating a small, localized warm‑water zone. These conditions can attract certain fish species, particularly during colder periods, and have resulted in an active and well‑documented habitat. Our thermal interactions and the aquatic environment surrounding the site have been extensively studied by scientists and regulators for many years, and the livestream allows the public to see first-hand what researchers have long observed.

Protecting Lake Huron remains a core priority for Bruce Power. Its operations are governed by strict federal and provincial environmental regulations and long‑standing approvals that set clear limits on thermal discharges and require comprehensive fish-protection and aquatic-monitoring programs. The company uses continuous, real‑time monitoring, detailed thermal plume modelling, and regular environmental risk assessments to ensure impacts remain low and within approved limits.

Bruce Power also works closely with Indigenous communities, including the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, through ongoing information sharing, monitoring, and collaborative research. Together with Indigenous and academic partners, the company is investing in advanced studies to better understand fish movement, habitat use, and how near‑shore ecosystems are responding to changing conditions in Lake Huron.

To view the live event, tune in on Wednesday, April 22 at 10 a.m. at Hidden Below LIVE – Inspired Planet Productions.
