Bruce Power named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for 11th year

For the 11th consecutive year, Bruce Power has been recognized by Canada’s Top Employers for Young People as a national leader in providing high-quality workplaces and programs for young people starting in their careers.

Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power’s Executive Vice President, Human Resources, said the company’s long-standing place as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People is a reflection of Bruce Power’s success in providing opportunities and support to pursue a variety of roles and advance their career in the nuclear industry.

“Bruce Power provides a dynamic career supporting Canada’s clean energy future and providing life-saving medical isotopes across the globe,” Sprague said. “Our employees are proud of the work we do and can take advantage of the wide range of opportunities available on our site to build a meaningful career in nuclear.”

The Canada’s Top 100 Employers 2022 Top Employers for Young People recognizes the company for its focus on young employees through career development programs and opportunities, the on-site North American Young Generation Nuclear (NAYGN) organization, and for developing future employees through its development student, summer student, and internship programs.

Now marking its 20th year, Canada’s Top Employers for Young People is an editorial competition that recognizes employers offering the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people starting their careers. Winners of the competition are chosen by the editorial team at the Canada’s Top Employers project based on the programs and initiatives they offer to attract and retain younger workers. These include benefits such as co-op or work study programs. The editors also examine each employer’s mentorship and training programs, including benefits such as bonuses paid on completing trades or professional designations. The editors also review each employer’s career management program, looking for initiatives that help younger workers advance faster in the organization.

“The pandemic has caused many people to think more about their whole selves and, for young people starting their careers, work is a key part of that,” says Kristina Leung, Senior Editor at Mediacorp. “Young people are asking questions like ‘Is this a job I can be passionate about?’ and ‘Does this organization reflect my values so that I feel a connection beyond just employment?’. The best employers are improving their organizational and workplace policies to reflect these emerging concerns.”

Jason Ng, Co-Chair, Bruce Power Chapter, NAYGN, congratulated Bruce Power on once again being selected to the Top Employers for Young People’s list.

“At NAYGN our dedication to engaging the community has remained unwavering during this challenging year,” said Ng. “Despite our membership working remotely, we took all the proper precautions to host career development sessions, local community events and COVID supply distributions. The inspiration of our future leaders to follow their passion and achieve their highest potential simply would not be possible without the strong support of Bruce Power.”
