The Ministry of Health (MOH) has approved South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) to release a tender for the construction of a 2,000 square foot addition to the Kincardine hospital to house a new CT scanner.
The construction tender was publicly released on December 22nd, and a formal announcement regarding the Kincardine CT project from SBGHC, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation and Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson is expected in the coming weeks.
Funding for this project is being provided by the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation and the Government of Ontario, as well as a $1 million contribution from Bruce Power. The addition will be located directly south of the main entrance, adjacent to the east side the existing hospital building, and will include a private CT suite, technologist area, patient prep room, wait space, change room, washroom and stretcher holding area.
The purchase order for the Siemens Edge Plus CT scanner was issued on April 29th , 2021, and the equipment is expected to arrive as soon as the addition is ready to receive it.
“As part of our government’s work to end hallway health care, we are ensuring that Ontarians have access to high-quality diagnostic imaging services closer to home,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “By bringing CT scans to Kincardine, more patients and their families will be able to receive the care they need without having to travel.”
