There is still time to register for the 4th Annual Afro Caribbean Youth and Cultural Awards, taking place this Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Community members across Bruce and Grey Counties are encouraged to register this week for an evening celebrating the remarkable young people growing up in our communities.
The awards bring our community together to recognize the achievements, contributions and potential of Afro Caribbean youth. Last year’s event welcomed families, neighbours, educators and community leaders to honour young people whose stories enrich our shared community and celebrate their accomplishments in a culturally rich environment.
This year, we are pleased to welcome The Why Not Agency as our keynote speaker. Their work empowering youth through creative expression and community engagement reflects the spirit of the event.
Everyone is welcome, whether your family has lived here for generations or you arrived in Canada recently. Our community’s stories have roots in Scotland, Jamaica, Nigeria, India, England, Trinidad and right here along the shores of Lake Huron. This is an opportunity to come together, celebrate the achievements of local youth and recognize the diversity that enriches our community.
Recognizing a young person’s accomplishments is one way we can show them that they are valued, supported and encouraged to reach their potential.
Registration is requested. This is the final week to sign up! Register online: https://ca.mar.medallia.com/ACYAregistration
