It was COPA Kids Day on Saturday at the Port Elgin Airport and before registration began at 8:30 a.m., kids and their families were lined up.
The annual event is sponsored by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) to give kids between the ages of eight and 17 the chance to take flight .
This year, nine pilots from across the region of Bruce and Grey donated their time and planes.
They first began with a ‘ground-school’ lesson followed up by hands-on learning from an experienced pilot and then it was up in the air for a 20 minute flight, including out over Lake Huron.
