Three members will return to office at the Inaugural Meeting on Wednesday. Bill Stewart returns as Councillor for Ward 2 and Doug Kennedy as a Councillor for Ward 1. Andrea Clarke, previously a Ward 1 Councillor, will take office as the Deputy Mayor for this upcoming term.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Jillene Bellchamber-Glazier reflected with respect on those who chose to serve on Municipal Councils. “Congratulations to the candidates that ran for office and to the outgoing members who served their community. It is not an easy thing to campaign, but being a candidate gives people a choice in an election, and democracy requires that we have people who will put themselves forward and run,” she says. “This last term was especially unique for those in public service. It presented challenges for all levels of government, and I applaud the dedication of those departing members who served, as well as the initiative of those who ran for election.”

Departing Council members include Councillors Dave Cuyler, Dorne Fitzsimmons, Laura Haight, Maureen Couture, Deputy Mayor Randy Roppel, and Mayor Gerry Glover.

In addition, Deputy Mayor Roppel has announced his retirement from municipal politics, a journey that began on Tiverton Village Council in 1973. A presentation of a provincial award for Long-Standing Service recognizing Roppel’s commitment to the community is part of Monday’s agenda.

The Municipality of Kincardine thanks those on Council who are departing for their service and wish them well in their future endeavours.
