Hospice Ungala-gala surpasses expectations

All expectations were surpassed at this year’s Fall premier fundraising event, Hope for Hospice 2.0 and the ‘Ungala-gala’ hosted by Huron Shores Hospice.

The virtual event raised some $183,000 (pre-expenses) toward the goal of $210,000.

The event held on September 16th, surpassed last year’s $147,000 raised for the operation of the community Huron Shores Hospice.

The virtual event was live-streamed directly into ticket holders’ homes and Layne the Auctionista returned to bring back the fun to the Live Auction FUNdraising.

The ungala-gala also included access to a charcuterie board from local restaurants, paired with a bottle of wine (that was not included in the ticket price) and local entertainment in addition to the silent and live auctions.

All silent and live auction items were purchased from local small businesses to help support them through the difficult time of COVID. The items were purchased with the help of  generous corporate sponsors.

Following the main event to round off the evening, Huron Shores Hospice hosted an after-party, via Zoom, for those who wanted to hang out and visit with other participants.

The tickets for the entire evening were $50 (tax deductible) with all proceeds from the ticket sales going directly to the support for care that the Hospice provides to residents and their families, while in care.

“We appreciate everyone’s support in helping to create a world where end-of-life receives the same beauty, care and respect as the beginning, by creating moments that matter for our residents and their families,” says Hospice co-Chair, Cheryl Cottrill.
