The annual Teeswater Fall Fair on Saturday, August 25th, lived up to part of its name … ‘water’, as rain fell heavily throughout most of the day putting a definite damper on things.
The Fair is touted as the oldest in Ontario having started in 1855 and this year it is celebrating its 163 anniversary.
The parade went ahead but there were few spectators and the children’s zone with its ‘blow-ups’ was a soggy scene with little happening.
The Tractor pull however, went ahead without a hitch although the track was one of slip ‘n’ slide mud.
Inside the community centre where it was dry however, there were tables filled with prize-winning baked goods, preserves, floral arrangements and vignettes by various groups.
With better weather promised for tomorrow (Sunday), the day begins with the Firemens’ breakfast at 8:00 a.m. and activities continue throughout the day ending with –
- 4:00 Classic car show parade (track)
- 5 – 7 Fair Supper – BBQ Ham/Roast Beef (com. center)
