Obituary: Linda Pannell – December 7, 2023

Linda Pannell, co-founder with husband Jim of Bruce County’s Marketplace Magazine, has  passed away.

Having worked with Linda and Jim for approximately seven years, they were a force together to be reckoned with.  Jim would be out of the office or on the phone tracking down advertisers in that way of his that made it hard for them to say ‘no’ to, while Linda quietly went about running the show … editing the articles, administering the office, dealing with customers and taking care of all the daily things needed to put together a publication.

For anyone who knew them, you knew that they adored each other.

Linda Pannell was born in June 21, 1947 in Timmins, ON. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on December 7, 2023.
Linda is survived by her loving daughters Deborah (Wayne Burke), Melissa (Anthony Matthews), her grandchildren Jessica, Kylee (Evan Koller), Lily, Kate James and Ella and her two great granddaughters Everly James and Eliza Lynn.

Linda was predeceased by her husband James. Jim and Linda met in Vancouver where their love story began and carried on for over 50 years. Together they had Marketplace Magazine for over 30 years where she was the quiet supportive force behind the success of their business.

Being a very involved parent and grandparent, she attended over 50 years of Christmas concerts, plays, graduations and anything the children and grandchildren took interest in. She was their number one cheerleader. Her girls were her pride and joy and she was a loving and nurturing Nana.

Even at the end she found a way to smile and laugh, she will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love of her girls and one particular brand of lipstick! We will miss her dearly. We love you.

Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home Kincardine on Monday, December 18th, 2023 from 12 until the time of memorial service at 1 pm with Crystal Morais officiating. Reception will follow at Bar Down.

Spring Interment, Kincardine Cemetery.

If so desired memorial donations in Linda’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated by her family.
