Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan (L) presents award to Kara                                       Van Myall and Jill Roote

Bruce County’s “Project Innovate: Driving Innovation in Bruce County” has been honoured with an Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Award of Excellence, in the category of Planning & Building Initiatives, for “Strategic Plan & Initiative”.

The awards aim to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work in economic development happening around the Province. This year, 98 submissions were received and evaluated by an expert panel of judges with backgrounds in marketing, communications, tourism and industrial / commercial development. The awards were presented at the EDCO Annual President’s Dinner in Toronto on January 31, 2019.

“With labour shortages currently being felt across the region, a collaborative approach to economic development is more important than ever,” says Warden Mitch Twolan. “Bruce County is creating strategies, like Project Innovate, that will better equip us to move into the future – recognition for these efforts at the provincial level is an honour.”

“Project Innovate is a regional strategy that provides a roadmap to build a sustainable energy supercluster leveraging existing assets to diversify into alternate industries”, says Kara Van Myall, Director of Planning & Development. “The project will strengthen the energy sector by fostering business development and partnership opportunities.”
