The redevelopment of the Kincardine hospital has taken another critical step forward, with the Ministry of Health granting approval to bring the project into detailed planning – the final stage before construction. As the project moves forward, the hospital Foundation must secure the final $6 million needed to fund the community share of $18 million. This milestone highlights the importance of community support to expand and modernize the Kincardine hospital.

The addition of an MRI suite will significantly enhance patient care in the region, reducing the need for residents to travel outside the community for essential imaging and ensuring timely diagnoses close to home. MRI technology represents one of the most substantial investments in the redevelopment project, with costs forming a significant portion of the local share.
The expanded Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory spaces will be nearly three times larger than current facilities, designed to meet the needs of patients today and for generations to come.
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation has been working in partnership with SBGHC since the project’s inception. Through the Building Health Care for Generations campaign, launched in January 2022, nearly $12 million has already been raised toward the $18 million local share required. The Foundation now turns its focus to raising the remaining $6 million in 2026, with a particular emphasis on funding the MRI suite.
“Seeing Ministry of Health approvals secured is incredibly exciting for our community,” says Becky Fair, Foundation President. “We are now entering the final stretch of our campaign. The community has already shown tremendous generosity, and together we can raise the remaining $6 million to bring this project to life.”
Graham Mahood, Co-chair of the Capital Campaign Committee, adds: “Momentum is building, and we know the community is ready to rally. Every contribution brings us closer to shovels in the ground and to ensuring that future generations have access to modern, innovative health care right here in Kincardine.”
The Foundation invites community members, businesses, and partners to join in this historic effort. Together, we can ensure that Kincardine hospital stands ready to deliver exceptional care in modern, accessible, and innovative facilities.
