Summer reading club kicks off at local libraries

TD Summer Reading Club, Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities kicks off at Bruce County Public Library June 23. This free program is offered at 2,000 public libraries across Canada, and it’s easy to include in any summer plans. The Club celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories, and inspires kids to explore the fun of reading their way; key to building a lifelong love of reading.

Kids can take part anywhere—at Bruce County Public Library, other public libraries across Canada, online, or wherever summer takes them.

Kids can:

  • find great things to read
  • track their reading
  • connect and share with others across the country
  • read books online
  • join in activities
  • collect stickers
  • write jokes, stories and book reviews, and more!

There’s something for everyone, including kids with print disabilities as well as preschoolers and their families.  Talk to your local public library staff this summer to find out how your family can join the TD Summer Reading Club and get your free materials!

New to Bruce County Public Library’s summer reading program this year is Beanstack.  Sign up for this online reading tracking program to log how much time you spend reading, leave a book review or picture, log your participation in an outdoor activity and more.  You can collect virtual badges by logging your activities in Beanstack.  Complete all the challenges to earn a customized button from your local library branch.

The Library has created a Beanstack program just for teens as well.  Join online or download the mobile app, Beanstack Tracker to scan your book titles, keep a list of all the books you read or even challenge yourself this summer to read the longest book you’ve ever read!

Check out the library’s website at:www.library.brucecounty.on.ca for a listing of special events including visits from Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, Wild Ontario, Let’s Talk Science and Panzerotti & Sunshine.

Visit your local library for weekly activities to “feed your passions”.
