Labour Day parade another COVID cancelled event

Today, Saturday September 5th, 2020, would have been the 25th anniversary day of ‘Labour’ celebrations however, due to COVID-19, parades and BBQs have been cancelled.

Labour Day parades take place annually across Canada but, in Saugeen Shores, the home of the UNIFOR family and workers’ complex, the parade is billed as the largest ‘Union Retirees’ Parade’ in North America.

In Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores), the annual Labour Council parade has been the second largest in Canada where union members and retirees from across the province and beyond have marched to show their solidarity.

Because this year’s parade and family day has been cancelled, we thought we would take a look back at only some of those parades that have taken place in Saugeen Shores that we have covered for 13 years.
