As we make our way into December, the sights and sounds of the holiday season are all around. From parades to Christmas lights, carols to sweets, take a moment to reflect on different festivities happening during this time.
Happy Hanukkah! The eight days of Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, is celebrated from December 19th to the 26th this year.
Warm Yuletide Wishes! Yuletide’s roots are old and representative of more than one culture. Spanning December 21st to January 1st, the Yuletide refers to the festive season that typically falls between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day or Epiphany.
Happy Solstice! December 21st is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Many Indigenous communities acknowledge this day as a time for quiet, reflection, and hope.
Festivus Greetings! Popularized by the sitcom Seinfeld, Festivus is an authentic holiday dating back to 1966. A secular, non-commercial holiday, it is celebrated on December 23rd.
Merry Christmas! December 25th is the annual religious and cultural celebration recognizing the birth of Jesus Christ. Customs associated with the holiday vary between faiths and countries, with households often recognizing their own unique traditions at this time.
Joyous Kwanzaa! From December 26th to January 1st is the celebration of Kwanzaa. Recognizing multiple aspects of different harvest celebrations and seven major principles associated with African culture, this holiday is often celebrated in addition to Christmas.

Closing December 23rd, 2022, at 12 p.m. to January 2nd, 2023 (inclusive). Regular hours of operation resume January 3rd, 2023.

· Building closed December 24th, 2022, at 3 p.m.; December 25th and 26th, 2022; January 1st, 2023.
· Administration Office closing December 23rd, 2022, at 12:00 p.m.; closed December 26th and 27th, 2022; and January 2nd, 2023.
Tiverton & District Sports Centre – 20 McLaren Street, Tiverton
· Closing December 24th, 2022, at 3 p.m.; closed December 25th and 26th, 2022; January 1st, 2022.
Kincardine Waste Management Centre – 437 Sideroad 15, Armow
· Closed December 24th, 26th and 27th, 2022; January 2nd, 2023.
Curbside pick-up of garbage and recycling will occur on regular days. Lake Street garbage service will be collected on December 28th.
