‘Five Decades’ – a retrospective by renowned artist Alan Weinstein

Awesome!  Inspiring! Incredible! These are only a few of the adjectives that recent visitors used to describe the art exhibit created by the prolific artist Alan Weinstein

Since his one-man show in 1961 at the Pollock Gallery, Toronto, Weinstein has been exhibiting solo shows in museums and galleries across Canada, the United States and Australia.

Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre Director Cathy McGirr and artist Alan Weinstein

This is his first exhibit in Bruce County however and is a condensed retrospective of paintings and prints from Weinstein’s Bruce County studio in Teeswater.  His barn studio in the Bruce has been the keystone in the arc of his artistic growth; this exhibition traces that legacy.

The ‘Five Decades’ takes viewers through the different phases of Weinstein’s introspective look into various aspects of his world view created through his art.

The 77 works range from 8″ x 10″ to 9ft. by 12 ft. and each of the five decades is given its proression.

Each year, Weinstein spends time in his Teeswater (ON) studio where, for 50 years, the barn has been the keystone and grounding for his art.

The exhibition continues to September 3rd at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton.
