Municipality of Kincardine Issues Open Air Burn Ban

The Fire Chief for the Municipality of Kincardine has issued a ban on open air fires until further notice. This restriction includes open air permits and recreational permits previously issued in accordance with the Municipality of Kincardine’s Open Air Burn By-Law No. 2017-136.

Although the Municipality was not in the Restricted Fire Zone identified in the Provincial Fire Ban issued today, Chief McNeilly along with Fire Chiefs from around Bruce County, met today and decided a fire ban was warranted in our entire area.

Chief McNeilly echoed the Province’s statement by saying that “This preventative measure is being put in place to limit firefighters’ exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure that we can continue to focus our efforts on and respond to emergencies”.

The ban encompasses any outdoor fire including the burning of grass, debris and campfires, even when using an outdoor fire grate, fireplace or fire pit.
